Valuable Lesson
This March, my family suffered a huge tragedy when my Aunt Jenny suffered a brain aneurism. The doctors told my family that she was brain dead and that they would be turning off the machines that were keeping her alive. We were all in a state of shock. Then, the day before they were going to shut the machines down, my aunt squeezed her childhood friend's hand on command. This meant that her brain was still functioning. She spent the next seven months in a hospital dealing with various complications that the aneurism had caused. This experience taught me to live life to the fullest and appreciate my family, because they could be gone in an instant.
