Last Post
I can't believe that the first semester of sophomore year is over. It went by so fast! I'm really going to miss computer class. It was nice to have a class that I did not have homework in. Unfortunately, I have heard that there is a lot of homework in speech class. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this class and I hope that the other half of the sophomores taking it during the second semester enjoy it as much as I did. Having this blog and posting to it once a week was actually pretty fun. It was really interesting to get to read others' blogs as well. Well, I have to go finish my study guides. Good luck to everyone on their finals!

Winter
Winter is one of my favorite seasons. First of all, it includes Christmas, which is my favorite holiday. I also like winter because I love sledding, drinking hot chocolate, and bundling up. However, there are some aspects of winter that I do not particularly enjoy. I really do not like when it is really cold, but there is no snow. Also, I hate the ice. Being a new driver, driving on ice really scares me. Plus, I always slip and fall on ice. Overall, winter is a great season.

Newscast Project
Our latest project is to create an informational podcast. My group consists of myself, Sophie, and Madisen. We chose our topic to be the Day of the Dead. Since Madisen and Sophie take Spanish, they already knew a lot about the holiday. I, being a French student, did not. By doing this podcast, I learned a lot about the Day of the Dead and, also, about how to do a podcast. We are still working on it and need to insert a video. I had a lot of fun doing this project.

What I Am Thankful For
I am thankful for many things in my life. It is hard to narrow it down to just a few things. Most importantly, I am thankful for God, who gave me all the blessings in my life. I am also thankful for my family and friends. They have shaped me into the person I am today. My health, and the health of my loved ones, is another thing I am thankful for. Finally, I am thankful for the opportunity that I have to go to school and receive a great education. Being thankful should not be something saved for Thanksgiving, it should be something that we are always thinking about.

Political Cartoon
I chose this political cartoon because it was one of the few that I actually understood. Even though I was hoping John McCain would win the election, I still think this cartoon portrays a pretty true thought. During this election, everyone was divided between Barack Obama and John McCain for President of the United States. However, we could all agree on one thing: It was time for President Bush to leave the presidency.I commented on Sophie Tarentino's blog.

My Invention
If I could invent anything, it would be a time machine. I think that it would be so interesting to be able to go back in time and see what it was like. I suppose I would have to give my machine the ability to go into the future because a lot of people are probably curious to see what is going to happen to them. However, I have no desire to see what is going to happen before it happens. That would completely ruin all of my life experiences for me. Therefore, I would only use it to go back in time. Maybe, one day, someone will be able to invent a time machine.

My Experience Doing the Podcast
I thought that this assignment was really interesting. Previously, I had never worked with the Garageband application. It was really interesting getting to see what you can do with it. At first, it took me awhile to figure out how to get the sounds. Then, I had trouble finding music that was spooky. However, I quickly figured it all out, wrote my script, and recorded myself reading the script. My final problem was when I accidently deleted the voice portion of my Podcast and had to re-do it. Other than that, I had a lot of fun making my Podcast.

Valuable Lesson
This March, my family suffered a huge tragedy when my Aunt Jenny suffered a brain aneurism. The doctors told my family that she was brain dead and that they would be turning off the machines that were keeping her alive. We were all in a state of shock. Then, the day before they were going to shut the machines down, my aunt squeezed her childhood friend's hand on command. This meant that her brain was still functioning. She spent the next seven months in a hospital dealing with various complications that the aneurism had caused. This experience taught me to live life to the fullest and appreciate my family, because they could be gone in an instant.

My Upcoming Report Card
I am feeling alright about my upcoming report card. I only have one B+, which is a good feeling. I know that the first quarter is always the toughest because we are still trying to get back into our routine. Still, I managed to receive an A in my honors classes, which I feel are the most important. I worked really hard this semester and that is all that my parents care about. I will continue to do my best for the rest of the year.

Peoria Logo
Apparently, the city of Peoria is looking for a new logo. Personally, I like the second one on the top row. It is the one with the sun. I think that this would be an excellent logo for Peoria. I think that it is essential that we include the river in our logo because that is what our city is known for. I also like that this logo is very colorful. After I voted for my first choice for the logo, I was asked to choose my second choice. I chose the one on the bottom row that is the farthest to the left. This logo is my second choice because the "swirly" thing is cool and I like the font that City of Peoria is in.

My Favorite Halloween Costume
My favorite Halloween costume was when I dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I was in third grade, so I was still at the age where I got really excited for Halloween. I remember going to the costume store to look for my outfit. That was when I saw Dorothy's sparkly red slippers and insisted that my mom buy them for me. My mom agreed to get them if I was willing to be Dorothy for Halloween. Honestly, I did not care what I had to dress up as, just as long as I got to wear those shoes. We then bought the rest of the costume, a stuffed dog, and a basket to carry my "Toto" in. I had a blast during that Halloween and it is a memory that I will always have.

iPhoto Project
Our latest project allows us to use the iPhoto application. We have to find pictures of objects that look like the letters of our name. We have to find at least ten letters. Since my first and last name only equal nine letters, I am including my middle name as well. I think that this is a really interesting and fun project. Actually, it is my favorite so far. I am almost done with this and will soon be moving on to the second part of the project. This second part consists of us having to find pictures that describe ourselves. So far, this project is a lot of fun and, since I have used iPhoto before, have found it to be fairly easy.

Physical Development
I believe that having physical goals is something that is very important in a person's life. This year, I plan on developing physically by simply staying healthy. To attain this goal, I will stay on the healthy path that I am already on. Since I play year-round tennis, I am already physically in shape. I also run to keep up my endurance. A healthy diet is another aspect that allows a person to be more physically developed. I am a healthy eater and will continue this healthful diet. My physical goals for this year are to continue the healthy path that I am on.

Progress on Homecoming Newsletter
Hey everyone! The newsletter that Sophie, Madisen, and I have been putting together is almost complete. All of our articles are written and we have put many pictures on it. However, we are still uploading pictures from the Homecoming dance and pep rally. Also, we have to find the scores of some sporting events that took place during Homecoming week. Overall, this has been a really fun project and I have throughly enjoyed it.

Intellectual Development
I have many intellectual goals for this year. First, I hope to receive all A's on my report card for all four quarters. I know that this will entail me studying hard and spending more time on my homework. Second, I think that I will grow more, in an intellectual sense, if I really pay attention in class. By gaining more knowledge, I will become a wiser, more intellectual person. I believe that having intellectual goals helps a person to be more successful.
Homecoming Newsletter
This week we were given a new assignment. We got to choose two people to be in a group with. My partners are Sophie and Madisen. Our job is to make a newsletter for Homecoming. So far, ours looks really good. We are actually pretty close to being finished. All we have to do is upload some pictures and finish an article. I am really enjoying this assignment because we got to choose our partners. I really hope that ours gets chosen to be in the school newspaper!

Emotional Development
I feel that being emotionally sound is something that can bring great success upon a person. This year I hope to be more nurturing to my emotional development. I think that this will allow me to perform well in and outside of school. First, I will become more organized. By being more organized, I will have less stress and, therefore, be happier. Also, I could try to be more appreciative for the things in my life. I hope to become much more emotionally developed during my sophomore year.
PowerPoint Assignment
Our most current assignment in computer class is a PowerPoint presentation. The topic was a saint of our choice. I chose St. Clare of Assisi because I found her life to be really interesting. PowerPoint is the Microsoft equivalent to Mac's Keynote. Although I feel somewhat bad admitting this, I must say that I found the PowerPoint to be much easier to use. Maybe this is because I have no prior experience with Keynote. However, I really enjoyed this assignment and am very proud of my presentation.

Spiritual Development
This year, I hope to become closer to God and allow my faith to grow. I can accomplish this by going to Mass more often. I could also read the Bible more and really try to understand its message. Finally, I will try to pray more. I feel that by doing these things, I will become closer to God.
Storyboard Assignment
Hey everyone! Our latest assignment is making a music video using the Storyboard application. It is alot of fun so far, although we are not completely finished. The song that I chose was Imagine by the Beatles. I chose this song because I think that it has a very clear message, which will be easy to portray. I will try to keep you all updated throughout this project.

First Post!
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! This blog is an assignment for my Introduction to Technology class. I really enjoy learning about all of the applications that Macs have. However, I think that we are moving a little too fast. That being said, I also realize that there are many activities that we need to accomplish before the end of the semester. I really enjoy this class and have learned alot.
